"لا شيء في علم الأحياء من الممكن أن يُفهم إلاّ على ضوء نظريّة التطوّر".

كان هذا عنوانا لمقالة كتبها (ثيودوسيوس دوبجانسكي) عام 1973م ومن ثم تحولت الى أيقونة مفضلة للترويج للداروينية.

ولكن...

ما مدى واقعية هذا الشعار المتكرر؟

يجيب إ. إس. ويلكِنز A. S. Wilkins رئيس تحرير مجلة (بيو إيسز BioEssays) في عددها الخاص الصادر عام 2000م عن هذا الادعاء كاشفا عن ذلك التناقض بين عقيدة الداروينيين في اعتبار التطور مركزيا وبين التطبيق الفعلي للتطور في شتي مجالات البيولوجيا التي تعتبره زائداً عليها وعديم الجدوى.⁽¹⁾

ويــرى (فيليـب سكيــل) عضــو الأكاديمية الوطنية للعلوم بأمريكا أنه بعكس تلك الادعاءات التي يتم الترويج لها بأن التطور هو حجر الأساس في البيولوجيا التجريبية، فإنه لا يمثل أهمية تذكر كما جاء في تقرير مجلة The Scientist لعام 2005م.⁽²⁾

وكذلك الأمر في كافة مجالات البيولوجيا التطبيقية المختلفة، كما يؤكد البروفسيور (مارك كرشنر Marc Kirschner) رئيس قسم البيولوجيا بجامعة هارفرد للطب حيث يقـول:

"في الحقيقة، على مدار المئة عام الماضية، تقدمت معظم علوم الحياة باستقلال عن التطور، باستثناء البيولوجيا التطورية نفسها. علوم البيولوجيا الجزيئية، الكيمياء الحيوية، وعلم وظائف الأعضاء لم تأخذ التطور في اعتبارها على الإطلاق".⁽³⁾

وحتى عام 2013 لازالت التقارير تكذب ذلك الادعاء، ففي أحد التقارير المختصة بممارسة الطب والتي تم نشرها يقول أن التفسيرات المباشرة هي ما نحتاجه للتشخيص والعلاج، وأن التفسيرات المتعلقة بالنشوء والارتقاء ضعيفة، والأهمية السريرية للطب التطوري فى أفضل الحالات غير مؤكدة.(4)
